You can prevent cold sores by taking Vitamin C and Lysine, lack of which are know to be the biggest cause of outbreaks. You can take both Vitamin C and Lysine in supplement form and this will reduce the amount of sores you suffer with and will also prevent future outbreaks from occurring.

Moisturize: It is very easy for the cold sore to crack open. Make you prevent this from happening by keeping your lips nice and moist, use a delicate moisturizer or petroleum jelly.

Another cure for cold sores is to place a tea bag on your sore. This will help you reduce the pain and help keep it from becoming worse. Tea bags helps your sores because it contains tannic acid.

Cut both salty and acidic items out of your diet for the time being. One of the best ways to cure cold sores is to remove any irritants. Eating foods like like oranges, tomatoes and salty chips just irritate the fever blister more. You want to avoid these foods in order to speed up healing.
